Install a New Template

Templates in Sightfull are designed to help you quickly set up analytics for specific use cases and start using best-practice metrics in your reports and dashboards.

Follow these steps to install a template and connect metrics to your data.

Step 1: Select a Template

To find and install a new template, follow these steps:

  1. Follow the link from your Metrics page to browse Sightfull’s Metrics Library
  2. Use filters and search to find the Templates that interest you
  3. Choose the Template you’d like to install and click 'Start Tracking this Template'

Step 2: Confirm metrics

Once you choose your Template, you’ll be directed back to your Sightfull app.

Review the metrics included in the Template and confirm to add them to your Sightfull metrics. Once you confirm these templates, the metrics will be added to your Metrics page.

Congratulations your Template installation is complete!

Step 3: “Pending setup” metrics

Sometimes, newly added metrics will be “Pending setup”, found at the top of your Metrics page.

These metrics require certain entity, dimension or relationships definitions which are not yet part of your ontology.

To complete setting up each pending metric, complete these missing definitions by:

  1. Clicking into the pending metric

  2. Resolving each issue, clicking on the issue should take you to the correct place to resolve it:

    1. Missing entity - select the data source & table for the new entity. Learn more about creating a new entity.
    2. Missing dimension - select the source field or formula for the dimension
    3. Missing relationship - detail the foreign and primary key that define the relationship
    4. Missing metric - install or create the required metric

Note: you can edit these definitions at any time, so no need to worry about making a mistake or needing to change something later.

  3. Preview the complete metric - once the definitions are set, return to the metric to see it is calculated successfully.

  4. Repeat for each pending metric

  5. Metrics Ready: Once all fields are filled, the metrics will no longer be marked as pending.

Step 4: Use and adapt your Template metrics

Once you complete all pending metric requirements, you can start using them in your analysis and reporting.

Like all metrics in Sightfull, you can always edit their calculation or any of the definitions in your ontology at any time, so no need to worry about making a mistake or needing to change something later.

FAQ

How do I know what data source & table to use in the entity definition?

An entity represents a key object or interaction within your business domain, such as a customer, product, or touchpoint.

To correctly define the entity, select the data source and table that captures data on this key object or interaction.

How do I know what fields and keys to use in my ontology?

Each dimension or relationship has a clear name and description of the real-world value or feature. Map the dimension or relationship using the appropriate fields or custom equations in your data source.

What if my data doesn’t match the required dimensions?

If your data doesn’t match the required dimensions, you can edit the metric to use other dimensions that better fit your data. The flexibility of the Sightfull app allows you to tailor metrics to your specific data needs.
